California

The family is taking a trip down to California later this month and luck would have it that there is a paintball game going on right around where we will be staying!

End War is the scenario my dad and I will be attending. It sounds like a blast and will be a good way to transition out of summer and into fall.

Our bi-weekly paintball games have ended for the season and will likely start up again in March or April. Until then we just have End War and the possibility of another small event or two before Supergame next spring.

As far as Supergame goes our local recruitment has been going fairly well. We have touched base with all the teams that fought with us at SGXL but with Chris' new business most of the heavy recruitment will likely happen next year when things have settled down.

Hopefully everyone else is out there having a good time.

Fun Time with Friends

This time around I brought out a few friends who had never been to a big paintball game before. They LOVED Supergame and are planning on coming out again in May. Here are some pictures of us being awesome Friday before the night game.

The Big Day

Tomorrow is the big day. Chris, Steve, and David are gonna kick us off by heading out around 8am with the rest of us following around noon. The whole of Eagle Squad should be at the field, setup, and ready to mingle around 3pm. Our booth will be setup and running throughout Friday probably up until the Feast Friday night.

Hope everyone is packed and otherwise well prepared. This weekend should be a lot of fun!

See you all on the field.

Lending a Hand

Just got back from the field where Chris, Jesse, and I helped a little in getting it ready for Supergame XL next weekend. We brought a couple machetes so Dan had us walk through all the trails and hack/slash the encroaching weeds and bushes. Many of the trails were still in great shape save for a few hanging sticker bushes. We also took some time and made a few new trails and connected some existing trails; mainly up around BB Hill. A lot of time was also spent around the "new" Hideout (same place as in May) knocking down some of the tall grass and adding a couple more paths from the Jager Beach side towards the flag.

Also, we got a chance to see the newly added "Command Posts". Both Yellow and Red have a netted area at a specific location along the perimeter of the DMZ. It sounds like rockets wont be able to destroy them but that fire can be exchanged between those inside the fort and those outside. There are a few slits cut in the netting at different places along the fort that would work well for defenders to stick out their barrels and let an approaching force have it.

Hope to see everyone out there in 5 days (can you believe it?!).

Countdown to Supergame

Supergame XL is just over a week away! I cant believe how close it is getting. This Sunday we will be having another game over in Rainier which will be our last chance to get out and practice/test gear before the big weekend.

There are still tons of things for us to do including finalizing gear setups, deciding on carpool arrangements, working out how to operate our booth this time around, and also finding out exactly how many people we are bringing with us!

Right now it looks like we will be bringing quite a bit of gear to fill out our booth. Hopefully we will also be able to work some trades during the now biannual EdgeZer0 Supergame Swap Meet.

Hope to see everyone out and about next weekend!

Crossfire July 10th

Yesterday we made it out to Crossfire's field to play a few hours of paintball. We all had a blast and enjoyed playing on a new field. Chris sat out one of the games and went around taking pictures. Here are some of the pics he took:

Last Saturday David and I attended another one of my friend Michael's pickup games. My friend Josef's wife was taking pictures most of the day; here are some of us.

Game Saturday July 3rd

Paintball game this Saturday at my friend Michael's place. We had 14 people at the last game and we hope to exceed that this time. Eagle Squad will be using this as an opportunity to try our some new marker setups including getting used to the Rocket Launcher under-mount on David's TM-7.

Exciting News!

It has been a pretty busy week for us here at Eagle Squad. First we received news that Steve was being considered for Yellow Team General which was the cause of the Meeting we had last week. This got us into gear adding forums to the blog and sending out feelers for possible teams to recruit. Since then we have found out that Steve IS the General of the Yellow Team and the recruitment process is now in full swing.

Steve, David, and I were also able to make it out to a pick-up game at a buddy's house. 14 people showed and we had a good time throwing paint for a few hours. Not a bad way to spend the morning!

Forums Up and Running

I just finished getting our Eagle Squad Forums up and running. I will flesh them out more and I get the time but for now there is a SuperGame forum, a Buy/Sell/Trade forum, and an Eagle Squad member forum.

Please everyone go and sign up. Lets get this thing started.

The link can be found to the right under the "About Us" section or right HERE.

Eagle Squad Meeting

Tonight at 7:00pm we will be having a meeting at Steve's house. Lots of things to discuss about Supergame 40 and beyond!

Eagle Cam

Chris spent part of the off season buying and learning to use a new head cam. He brought it out during Supergame 39 and was able to get some pretty good footage. I will get a link up to the video once we get it uploaded into youtube.

The camera went well for the most part but there was one problem: comfort. Once we got back Steve went to work to rig a setup that would be more user friendly.

This is what he came up with

The camera mount is bolted to the side of the helmet with padding on the inside to stop the screws from causing any pain when Chris is wearing it. It looks pretty sweet too!

Better Late Than Never

It is a little late in the making but I thought that I should get on here to talk a bit about Supergame 39. Eagle Squad was able to get 5 members out there although there were only 4 of us there at a time with 3 on the field. Chris was able to get three of his friends to come out and play with us for the weekend and with their help we were able to go out there and make quite a bit of a difference on the Yellow Team.

This year we were teamed up with Edge Zero and Crossfire again as members of the Yellow Team. We started out 200 point underdogs going into the Saturday game and were even down by 300 at one point. With some good strategic planning by Xaber and some hard work we were able to cut their lead to 50 points by the end of the day Saturday. Sunday was the Spoils of War game which is my personal favorite. Yellow Team was able to take the day and the weekend by the work we all put in capturing and recapturing bases.

Eagle Squad was fortunate enough to be on the winning side again and receive team recognition with the Best Defense plaque. Can't wait until next year.

Lastly, we were all very sad to hear that Bryce Hotckiss, the paintballer that was hurt on Saturday, died the following Monday. We were unable to attend the memorial game but were very glad that it went well and was able to raise more money for his family.

Spring Update

April is almost over which means less than a week until Supergame! Chris, David, and Steve have all been down to help out Dan fix the field and they say that it is looking great. More space, more bases, and more trails. I couldn't be more excited to get down there and play.

Looks like most of us will be there Friday night although I think only a few will take part in the game that night. I believe we will have a booth all weekend with a few hours set aside for a swap meet.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the field!

OHNOES!

Chris had some time to look over the footage from the Woodland paintball game and it turns out there is no footage to look over. I think there was a little glitch with the type of film he used. Anyways, he seems to know what the problem is and should have the details worked out so that he knows what he is doing come Supergame.

The bad news is that we obviously will have no footage of the Woodland game to post. The good news is that the Woodland game did what it was supposed to do: Let us work the kinks out of our equipment. Hopefully next time we are able to get some paintballing in the Maskcam will be working as intended.

Woodland Pickup Game

Just got back from a nice game down in Woodland. Chris, Jesse, and myself were the only ones able to attend but it was nice to get a little action in. There were about 18 people there and we started things off with a short game of Predator before splitting into two teams of nine.

We were only about to play a few games since we had to get back for poker night (which people should be showing up for soon).

Also! Chris brought out his new mask-cam and will hopefully have time later in the week to look over the new footage.

Games and Gear

The weather outside is getting much more inviting. It is time for us to find a game to get back in the swing of things and make sure our markers still shoot straight. We are looking for and hoping to find a game in the next month or two that we can all make to work out some of the kinks. If any of you guys have suggestions we would love to hear them.

On another note we have been collecting a lot of gear during the off season and are looking to unload some of it. If anyone needs gear or knows someone looking to buy contact Chris at cjgomez30@hotmail.com

We have too much gear to list here but you can contact him for more details. We are open to and welcome bartering. Eagle Squad could use camping equipment and the like.
